Ash Twp., Monroe County – A head-on crash between a F-150 pickup and a semi-truck and trailer killed a man from Carleton.
The Michigan State Police Monroe Post reports that the crash happened at around 5:25pm Wednesday. The two-vehicle injury crash happened on Oakville-Waltz Road near Maxwell Road. Upon arrival, troopers determined a Ford F-150 being driven by a 56-year-old male from Carleton had been involved in a head on collision with a semi-truck and trailer being driven by a 58-year-old male from Livonia.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles. Investigation of the scene and witness statements revealed the following sequence of events occurred:
The F-150 was travelling westbound on OakvilleWaltz Road and for an unknown reason the F-150 crossed the centerline into the eastbound lanes of travel and collided head-on with the semi-truck. The driver of the F-150 received fatal injuries as a result of this crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol and or drugs are not believed to be contributing factors in this incident. Troopers were assisted by personnel from the Ash Township Fire Department, Huron Fire Department, Berlin Township Fire Department, Huron Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and Monroe Community Ambulance. The roadway was closed for a short period of time while the Michigan State Police investigated the scene. Anyone having information about the incident is asked to contact Tpr.
